Facilities Management (FM)
Explore how the refreshed Built Environment Industry Transformation Map guides the facilities management sector to be more productive, sustainable, and future-ready.

Overview
BCA is championing the refreshed Built Environment (BE) Industry Transformation Map (ITM) to make Singapore’s BE sector more productive, sustainable, and future-ready. The refreshed BE ITM amalgamates the previous Construction and Real Estate (Facilities Management) ITMs into a single ITM, focusing on a value-chain approach to seize opportunities for the Built Environment sector.
Facilities Management (FM) enhances the spaces that we work, live, and play in. From commercial, industrial, and institutional spaces (like healthcare and education facilities) to MCST buildings, and to our residential estates, effective FM shapes the liveability, quality, and sustainability of our built environment.
Key FM Transformation Areas
Design for Maintainability (DfM)
The integration of maintenance needs and goals into the design process ensures that future maintenance tasks are efficient, safe, and economical throughout a building’s lifespan.
Integrated Facilities Management (IFM)/Aggregated Facilities Management (AFM) Grant
A service delivery model that bundles together multiple FM services across multiple building portfolios, optimising resource allocation through economies of scale and streamlined operations.
Smart Facilities Management
The integration of systems, processes, technologies, and people. This enables data-driven decision-making to deliver improved outcomes in building operations.
