The study identifies new career opportunities and recommends pathways for reskilling and job redesign to align with industry developments. It serves as a practical guide for employers, trade associations, training providers, and individuals to navigate workforce transformation and identify growth opportunities. The study helps stakeholders make informed career development decisions in the evolving built environment sector.

Findings from the Built Environment Workforce Study

 Key insights from the study include the following:

  • Many job roles across the built environment value chain will experience varying levels of change—some need significant redesign while others will evolve moderately.

  • Emerging roles linked to digitalisation and sustainability are becoming vital.

  • Challenges like an ageing workforce and a shrinking talent pool make it urgent to enhance the sector’s appeal and retention strategies.

The study drew on input from nearly 130 firms, underlining widespread support for the Built Environment industry transformation vision.
